How to Setup Facebook Pixels using GTM | Facebook Pixels setup Google ads

Setting up Facebook Pixels using Google Tag Manager (GTM) allows you to track user interactions on your website and send this data to Facebook for ad targeting, optimization, and analytics. Here are the steps to set up Facebook Pixels with GTM:

Prerequisites:

  1. Facebook Ads Account: Ensure you have a Facebook Ads account and access to the Facebook Pixel you want to use.

  2. Google Tag Manager Account: If you don’t have one, sign up for a Google Tag Manager account at https://tagmanager.google.com/.

Step 1: Create a Facebook Pixel-

  1. Log in to your Facebook Ads Manager account.
  2. Go to “Events Manager” and click on the “Data Sources” tab.
  3. Click on “Pixels.”
  4. Click “Create a Pixel.”
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Pixel. Facebook will provide you with a Pixel ID.

Step 2: Install Google Tag Manager on Your Website

  1. Sign in to your Google Tag Manager account.
  2. Create a new container for your website if you haven’t already.
  3. In the container, navigate to “Admin” and select “Install Google Tag Manager.”
  4. Follow the instructions provided to add the GTM container code to your website. You may need to add this code to every page of your website.
  5. Publish the GTM container to your live website.

Step 3: Set Up a Facebook Pixel Tag in GTM-

  1. In your GTM container, click on “Tags.”
  2. Click on “New.”
  3. Name your tag (e.g., “Facebook Pixel”).
  4. Choose a tag type. Search for and select “Facebook Pixel” under “Tag Configuration.”
  5. Configure your Facebook Pixel tag:
    • Enter your Pixel ID (obtained from Facebook Ads Manager).
    • Choose the trigger(s) that specify when the Pixel should fire. Typically, you’d want it to fire on page view, so select a trigger that matches all pages or specific page views.
  6. Save the tag configuration.

Step 4: Create a Trigger for the Facebook Pixel-

  1. In your GTM container, click on “Triggers.”
  2. Click on “New.”
  3. Name your trigger (e.g., “All Pages”).
  4. Choose a trigger type. Select “Page View.”
  5. Configure the trigger to fire on “All Page Views.”
  6. Save the trigger.

Step 5: Associate the Trigger with the Facebook Pixel Tag-

  1. Go back to your Facebook Pixel tag (the one you created in Step 3).
  2. In the “Triggering” section, click on “Choose a trigger to make this tag fire…”
  3. Select the trigger you created in Step 4 (e.g., “All Pages”).
  4. Save the tag.

Step 6: Publish the Changes-

  1. In GTM, click “Submit” to publish the changes to your container.
  2. Follow the steps to review and submit your changes.

Step 7: Test the Facebook Pixel

  1. To ensure everything is working correctly, use Facebook’s Pixel Helper browser extension to check if the Pixel is firing correctly on your website.
  2. Open your website in a browser with the Pixel Helper extension installed.
  3. Verify that the Pixel Helper shows your Pixel firing and tracking events correctly.

That’s it! You’ve successfully set up Facebook Pixels using Google Tag Manager. The Pixel will now start collecting data from your website for use in your Facebook Ads campaigns. Remember to regularly test and monitor your Pixel to ensure accurate tracking.
